Some people joked that the U.S.A. is the United States of Advertisement, but imagine without commercials, what our life would be? We have to say goodbye to our favorite TV shows. Housewives won’t be able to watch their Desperate Housewives after chore. Doctors can’t diagnose with House anymore. Jack Bauer’s fans may not be counter terrorists in 24. (rhyme, hehe) So, no commercials, no TV. Which one do you prefer? We all know that show capital comes from sponsors and sponsors want something back. Good show deserves big brand; bigger brand deserves better show. It is the golden rule in this competition world. The relationship between TV and ads is like two chopsticks, which help each other but won’t survive without each other, while we, who are sitting in front of television, enjoy fabulous shows and find wonderful (not all of them) commodities. This is a win-win-win solution. Why should we turn down ads? Besides, many famous brands now know audience is becoming tired of poor-made commercials, so the quality is getting better and better. Think about these scenes: a gorgeous car model eases an emergency Jack is dealing with; an exiting car takes you out of boring plot. Our minds need a change to look forward the next. The most important is: we have TiVo（我不知道写得对不对啊，一种能录节目的机器，而且没广告，大概比较贵） now, who cares commercials?!
9月14日 Prison Break Broke My HeartI admit I was thrilled by season 1, even the pilot, but now it was really going a little bit far. Our story began with this guy, Michael Scofield (MS), got tattoo on his whole body and planed a breakout from Fox River to help his brother Lincoln Burrows, who has been set up to homicide. During the scheme, many cons joined their team. And at last, six prisoners made it. The last shot of episode 22, season 1 was that they ran after a plane and cops ran after them. We crossed our fingers to wish them good luck. In the first 4 episodes, many miracles happened: T-bag took a surgery to get back his hand back by a vet; Scure(?) traveled a long way from Illinois to New York without noticed by anybody, and he was heading to Las Vegas for his girlfriend, who was having his baby, by a motor; Lincoln and MS tried to save LJ on a white day, when they are wanted nationwide; and the most unbelievable was that MS, Lincoln, T-bag, the thief were all after the money, almost crossed the United of America from east to west. I wonder whether they can make it. I might still follow the information about the show, but I am not gonna swallow this whopper. People get tired, just like The X Files season 7,8,9, which were totally nonsense and Fox had to end it. If The X Files did not have Fox Mulder, it would not be on show for 9 seasons. Prison Break is luckier, it has MS, the catnip to women, and a strong cast, but it cannot go far with this poorly makeup story. Audience is much more clever than The X Files times.
9月11日 Still Judging a Book by Its CoverI have something to say before this article. My writing teacher asked us to write a 250-500 word composition everyday, and keep doing it for 7days, which she believed would lead to 2 different consequences: you learn how to write or you hate it. So I decided to have a try to see the consequence.
Okay. Here we go!
After this really boring Chinese-English translation class, I went home by bus. This is the place our story began. I might say I am not a kind person, because I seldom give my seat to the old, handicapped, pregnant women or babies. And I avoid taking the special yellow seat to avoid embarrassment when these people come towards me. Many people do this in Shanghai now! And even more pretend to sleep or read newspaper!
Today, I gave my seat to a baby. More specific, a pretty baby.
I was sleepy on a non-special seat, seeing a woman with a baby in her arms getting on the bus. When I opened my eyes, a snow white was standing just beside me. Oooooo, so cute. What could I say? I was totally attracted to her beautiful eyes and adorable face and gave up my seat immediately. She was too shy to thank me, even asked by her grandma, I guess, many times. But who cares?! It is my pleasure to give angel a favor. If she was not so good-looking, I would sleep again.
Standing right beside this girl, I kept asking myself, Why? Why? Why? The answer was absolutely clear: she was gorgeous.
You could say I was acting like an idiot. I would say I was like possessed, too. But how many people are not judging a book by its cover? Rarely. Everyone likes nice stuff. Men like beautiful women and women like handsome men. Beautiful cover is a kind of beauty, except excellent content. That is why book has an amazing title or colorful package to catch your eye. If you take the book home, only to find it is terrible and throw it away; that’s another story. Now “eye economy” is kinda fashion. No wonder metrosexual is so popular, like My Hero, because these boys catch your eye first and catch you moneybag next. Few of them really have something in mind; however, so many fans still follow them faithfully. But who cares?! They have faces!
So, we were judging by the cover in the past; we are judging by the cover at present; we will be judging by the cover in the future.
I will be always loving you: COVER. 7月28日 Intern Diary IV今朝发生了一件重大事件，事情是这样的： 我们实习一共三个同学，每人一个老师，老师一般都比较忙，或者说不大做实验，是小组总管，大部分时间我们是跟小组成员在做（确切说是在看他们做）。实习了三个礼拜，差不多看了两个礼拜有四天，是人都会觉得无聊，每天中午的一顿饭就是我们的任务。无奈好象带我的老师比较吃香，三个人都喜欢看他做，可能因为他是上海人，活也比较多。 另外一个男同学的老师即使我在旁边也是不会让我碰的，另外一个女同学的老师基本上是没有什么事情的，那组的小组成员做的事情很机械，几乎全自动化，人只要加试剂。 以上是背景知识。 今天早上，带我的老师说早上没有事情，下午再纯化，我就跟另外一个女同学去看一下别的组，一看那里几乎已经挤满了（就是那个男同学那组，最近新来了个研究生），做的又是重复看了好几遍的事情，两个人就商量回办公室。突然想起来有个职工之家，来的时候人事部的人说是给员工累的时候娱乐的地方，个么想想既然回办公室也是看书，还不如去那里看看有什么杂志好看伐。 很大一个阅览室没有人，我们两个人就以为到了天堂，虽然么撒杂志好看，就她看托福，我看高口了。进来一个中年妇女（这种年纪的女人最错气！肯定是她么事体做打的小报告！不知道哪个部门的）问我们是哪里的。没几分钟基因部某行政人员就来找我们了，还说你们两个原来在这里啊，实验室在找你们做实验呢。（这人真是笨，也没个好点的借口，哪个实验室会找我们两个，一听就知道乱讲）我就说：**今天早上没有事情。我们就过来坐坐。 既然人家都说“实验室找你们呢”，把我们当成那么重要的人物，我们当然要给点面子回去了。实验室晃了一圈，么事体，再在办公室挨了一会，终于等到了吃饭。 下午一点整，去实验室等老师准备纯化，他突然来一句：那里上班时间是不能去的，只有中午和四点半以后能去。其实本来么撒，早上把我们两个招回时就已经知道了。后来做纯化，他居然不让我那个同学做了，（前天我们两个一起做的）搞的我也很紧张，还把某试剂搞错了。等测浓度的时候那叫一个紧张啊，跟查高口分数等短信的心情是一样的，还好四个里面只有一个不好。不过我这种人做的样品还需要做质检，免得后面的放大杂交功亏一篑，这是后话。 做实验的时候我同学老残过的，就看着我们两个做，还要很小心地陪笑脸，做她以前从来不做的后续工作，再加上我比较紧张，整个气氛就很怪异。实验结束我同学也意识到自己是不是应该回到她原来那个老师那里，（那组的几个女人也不大好，从来不睬我同学的，嫉妒人家长的比她们好看），又或者是我嘴巴太快，讲了句“**早上没事情”，连累了我老师……（今朝他们发岗位工资补贴什么的，伐晓得会不会比别人少……） 我承认我那个同学有时比较作，一歇来一歇不来，给人印象不大好，但是我们又不知道上班时间不能去那里；我们来这里本来就是来学习的，谁谁的老师何必分那么清楚呢，难道实习结束还要考察，看谁带的学生最好，我们三个都没考虑要留在那里（那里的人都在想怎么往外跳） 好了，这就是实习以来发生最大的事情了，还好不是什么爆炸事件，但是比爆炸更让人感到郁闷…… 7月26日 Intern Diary III: Male vs. Female今朝终于有机会纯化一记RNA，其实基本上也就依样画葫芦，老师加什么我们也加什么。比上次我同学一个人做是容易多了，估计考虑女生脸皮比较薄，老师自己不好意思讲我们，好象有点让我们两个女生哈来来样子。结果到是蛮出乎意料的。师傅今天阴沟里翻船，有一个曲线出来很难看，浓度也比第一次提取时低；徒弟今天运道好，两个样品居然都不错。第一次做的那个男生就比较惨，本来就紧张，被我们看了就更紧张，再被讲两句手都开始抖了……其实我到无所谓，虽然可能会被讲得脸红，（哭到不至于）但我们就是来学习的，男女都该一视同仁嘛，这样算不算性别歧视？以后有什么glass ceiling 也就没什么奇怪了。这种事情在实习时候就有了。 PS. 今天帮同学撞衫（撞了不止第一次了，两个人都穿白上衣，咖啡裙子，式样是不一样的），于是灵感突发，决定去参加公司的5周年庆，阿拉要唱TWINS的歌，哈哈，到时候穿一样的衣服，阿拉就是翻版的TWINS.7月25日 Intern Diary II: the EB killer先解释下EB，用最简单的话说就是电泳时需加的某至癌物质。 话说基因部分子实验室中有一排台子从来都是不带两层手套没人敢碰的，因为上面沾满了EB，那个地方除了要电泳也是没人靠近的，因为似乎那里的空气上方比其他地方更毒。 前几天，笑话同学一天洗了N次手，今天才发现原来我是最大的EB杀手……该带的手套是带了，只是带着手套把不该碰的都碰了，最后搞的一个下午也洗了N次手，浪费了很多手套，还要拿酒精把移液器擦干净，怪伐的今天有块胶没有跑好，老师说明天他自己来跑……估计实在是倘不牢我这种四面开花，秧及无辜的情况了。 撇开这件事情，今天终于有点东西好让我们忙忙了，虽然只是打打下手，至少比霉掉好…… 7月19日 About White Tower昨天更新完后看了白色巨塔，要有感而发一下。 考试期间看了点原著，还是看书好，书上总能描写的比较具体，详细。电视跟书也有点出入，但是总体还是比较一致的。 想说说电视的拍摄，感觉很不错，象把电视当电影拍一样，很多细节都处理的很好。（或许是小日本的特色）这几天看的几集里的灯光这一细节设置的非常巧妙。人物的设置似乎也颇费心思（书里面不知道是不是这样），才前手下的金井，柳原颇象里见，里见下面那个（名字忘记了，反正一副小人的嘴脸）到很象才前。讲到才前，电视似乎想把他描述成另外一种人，他其实不是很擅长手腕，人际关系这种东西，不然也不会一开始就跟东教授相处不好；每次他岳父塞钱给人他也总是比较尴尬，算是有点学者的风范。是他岳父让他变成后来这个样子，也或许是他的经历让他不顾一切往上爬。 编剧其实一般，很多地方就是传统日剧，么撒感觉。本来以为是日本医院版的《金枝玉孽》，后来发现不是，小日本的手腕就是钞票，而清宫里的女人不用钱，用的是脑子。医生还是要治病救人，宫里的女人除了斗就没别的事干。 |
